Fathers and Risk for Child Maltreatment: Prevention Pathways

father sitting with infant on couch
It is well established that fathers’ parenting behaviors have an important impact on child wellbeing. In a series of studies that build on ecological and family systems theories, Dr. Lee and her collaborators have examined fathers’ relationships within families (e.g., father-child and father-mother relationships) and how fathers’ parenting behaviors relate to child wellbeing and risk for child maltreatment and abuse. Dr. Lee was lead guest editor of a special issue of the journal Child Maltreatment (August 2009) titled, “Fathers, physical child abuse, and neglect: Advancing the knowledge base.”
